Insurance and subsidies

Unfortunately, spiritual care is not (yet) insured

Since 2019, the government in the Netherlands has subsidized mental health care for people over 50. I hear you thinking: "not fair". I agree with you partly. Because among the target group of people over 50, there is a lot of aging, loneliness, illness and (contact with) death. At the same time, there is a shortage of healthcare providers. Accessible spiritual care for people over 50 therefore seems necessary and can provide some relief for the overburdened healthcare sector.

I agree with you because, in my opinion, people under 50 also need appropriate and accessible spiritual care. Also people under 50 have to deal with (complex) life questions, challenges and boundary experiences. For people under 50, themes such as loneliness, depression and stress are common. In addition, there are long waiting lists for Mental Health Care. You can often get suitable care faster if you pay the costs yourself without insurance. Unfortunately, this is insufficient or an obstacle for many people. I would like to see spiritual care accessible to everyone. And not only for those with great needs and feelings of meaninglessness. Also for people who need more mental resilience and sources of meaning (preventive care).

Although people over 50 are not always financially well-off, I think that people under 50 and especially young people benefit from the offer of free or affordable spiritual care.

That is why I offer people who are financially less fortunate the opportunity to book a spiritual care session for a reduced rate or for free. In short, I take your financial position into account.
